Wavion to Provide WiFi Coverage in Dhaka

Wavion Inc, a company transforming the Metro and Rural WiFi market with a new category of WiFi Base Stations, and IT Connect Limited, an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, announced the completion of a large scale WiFi deployment based on Wavion WBS-2400 Base Stations in the city of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The WBS-2400 Base Stations will provide high-speed wireless (WiFi) connectivity to medium and small businesses and residences in Dhaka.

“As a service provider we started off with a solution requirement where wireless connectivity could be delivered to the subscriber with no or minimal CPE cost. The outdoor WiFi solutions available in the market are primarily targeted at the outdoor connectivity and do not address the market demand for a developing country, where subscribers require indoor connectivity. Wavion’s base station fills this void and enable us to provide our customers with the most reliable and affordable broadband connectivity,” said Mr. Waquer Hossain, the CEO of IT Connect Ltd. “After a thorough examination of the existing WiFi solutions, we have chosen Wavion’s WBS-2400 because of its powerful and unique beamforming technology which enables a cost-effective solution with the highest standards of quality of service.”

Wavion’s WBS-2400 specially adaptive beamforming base stations provide extended range, improved indoor penetration and better interference resilience. The WBS-2400 base stations installed in Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Dhanmondi in Dhaka and provide ubiquitous coverage to the four urban areas, covering 6 sq.km of Dhaka city.

“We are proud to be selected by IT Connect for their first large scale metro WiFi deployment,” said Eran Kaplan, EVP of Sales and Marketing. “Our superior performance in terms of range and indoors penetration provides a unique value proposition for city-wide deployments.”
