The Huawei-BUET (EEE) Wireless Communication Laboratory & Training Center Equipment “Switched-on” program was held on 22-Jan-09 at training center which is in BUET campus. Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Honorable Vice Chancellor, BUET visited the training center and switched-on the equipment. During his short speech Honorable Vice Chancellor, BUET mentioned “this is a historic moment for Bangladesh technical society and as well as BUET”. He also mentioned that BUET students will be greatly benefited from this initiative which will help our society to create more telecommunication expert in Bangladesh. He express his heartiest thanks to Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd,. Prof. Dr. Aminul Hoque, Head of EEE, BUET and Prof. Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder of EEE, BUET also attended the program. In his speech Head of EEE, BUET express his thanks to Honorable Vice-Chancellor, BUET for giving special attention for the quick completion of this project.
Mr. Asif Zaman, Director, HR and Admin, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd., attended the event. In his short speech he expressed his thanks to BUET and the project engineers those were involved in equipment installation from Huawei. He mentioned it as a remarkable milestone in the history of technical education in Bangladesh. From Huawei side the program was also attended by Mr. Rubyet Adnan, Deputy Head Product, Mr. Kaiser Wahab, HR Manager, Mr. Thouhidul Hassan, HR Manager along with the staff of training department and engineers who involved in equipment installation.
The equipment was switched-on by Honorable Vice-Chancellor, BUET. This is to be noted that Huawei-BUET (EEE) Wireless Communication Laboratory and Training Center agreement has been signed on July 16th 2008 between Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd., and BUET. The equipment arrived on October 2008. Huawei started the equipment installation in October 2008 and installation work completed on January 15, 2009.
Huawei is now serving 38 of the world’s top 50 telecom operators and started its operation in Bangladesh in 1998. Over the years, the company has made a significant stride to become country’s leading communication supplier, providing comprehensive services to all Bangladeshi telecom operators like GP, Aktel, Banglalink, CityCell, Teletalk, BTTB and other PSTN operators. Under its agreement with BUET, Huawei donated USD 3 million GSM equipments to BUET to set up a full fledged GSM lab in EEE department as a part of Huawei’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). On the other hand BUET shared 250 square meter areas in one of its newly constructed building to set up this new lab for purpose of hands on practice, as well as research and development. It is believed that, with the aid of Huawei’s advance technology, this joint lab and training center will help Bangladesh to develop more technically sound telecom experts.
